There are six haul-trucks in North Las Vegas, Nevada that work harder than most. Every day, save for Sunday, these six material haulers leave North Las Vegas heading for California loaded for a drop in Victorville, three hours away. Once empty, they are re-loaded for the return trip to North Las Vegas.
The 380 mile round-tripper, with load time and lunch is right at eight hours. The driver clocks out and the next driver clocks in …to repeat the process. Oh, BTW, eight hours later, a third driver sets off for the Golden State. This fire drill gives lather, rinse, repeat a whole new meaning.
Multiply 380 miles times three trips, times six days, times 4.333 weeks in a month (cuz 52 weeks divided by 12 is 4.333), and you get just shy of 30,000 miles per month. Now times that by twelve months and it does not take a rocket-surgeon to figure out that is 360,000 miles a year… per truck. Times six trucks is 2,160,000 miles!
American Eagle was stretching out their oil change intervals to 30,000 miles but the costs were still too high!
In the summer of 2013, then COO, now CEO of ONBOARD Oil Tech, Inc. Anthony Evans, walked into American Eagle Ready Mix with an idea on how to save them many thousands of dollars a year by running with Clean Oil Power from ONBOARD.
He was nearly escorted out of the office by security! Well, not actually, but the boss had “heard of enough %#@& bypass filters in his experience and would you please take your Snake Oil and hit the road, and don’t let the door hit you in the behind on your way out”!
American Eagle paid for the ONBOARD® ECVD system and the first year’s filters in just 6.6 months with oil savings alone and put over $2,000 on their bottom line. The real bonus however, was the 1/2 a mile per gallon increase in fuel economy, (8%), that the DD13 was realizing that saved American Eagle an additional $16,000!!! Add reduced DEF consumption and far less time in the regen mode and the savings multiply.
Now Anthony, being the persistent type talked his way into showing the boys just exactly what a Vacuum Dehydrator does and why they could not live without one on their trucks.
They decided to do a “test” on one truck. You guessed it, #503. She had 332,000 miles on the odometer when the ONBOARD ECVD system was installed on her DD13 in the fall of 2013.
November 10th 2014, #503 was de-commissioned and put out to pasture. The odometer read just over 700,000 miles. That is 368,000 miles with just ONE oil change after 225,000 miles.
